Blurgh. I’m feeling a tad
So yes depression all around at the moment i'm afraid. It's all a bit poo
Oh and a quick hello
Was in Bristol yesterday and walked past a Burst (Bristol stud radio) van!!! It was like a black thunder but all bursty!! Very jealous. How the hell did they get that??
Bu-bye Buffy Well we
Well we knew it was coming, but now its official. Buffy will be cancelled in May.
I think its the right time as well. I absolutely love the show but season 7 has gone right off the boil. Let's just hope they finish it off nicely and that Angel doesn't get cancelled as well. That would be far too much to cope with!
Coming soon … So
So whilst watching the flicks below I've been seeing trailers for pictures coming out soon (well duh obviously):
Maid in Manhatten : Hmm. I hate Jennifer Lopez.. cannot stand the woman. And Ralph Fiennes in a romantic comedy??? After seeing him in Red Dragon i'm not sure quite how that is going to work. But it just looks so good!!! The poster is dreadfully cheesy, in fact the whole thing is, but I really really want to see it. Shame on me.
Life of David Gale : I've got some free tickets from the Beeb to go and see this one on Tuesday. Starring Kevin Spacey (yay) and Kate Winslet, it tells the story of a anti-death penalty protestor, who is set up and placed on death row. Looks good.
Jackass : Er.. what?? And why??
Films I’m not that
Films
I'm not that big a film fan. I do like them but sitting in the cinema for 2/3 hours or staring at a tv for the same amount of time fills me with dread, as I could be doing so much else. But in the last 2 weeks I've seen 3 films which is somewhat impressive for me.
Chicago
From the moment I saw the trailer for this back in September, I was very excited by the prospect and could not wait to see it. Catherine Zeta Jones is just one of the most stylish, beautiful, hottest stars about at the moment and having never really watched her in a film, I wanted to see if she was really any good.
Based on the original stageplay from Bob Fosse, Chicago really did dazzle with its elaborate set & dazzling numbers. Richard Gere was a real surprise here. Not only could he sing but he managed to present someone who was equally sleazy & attractive in a fantastic way. I was in fact quite disturbed by how hot I was finding Gere... how old is he now???
Cell Block Tango was for me the highlight of the film. A stunning set, song, and dancing make it a standout point in the film & it reminded me a lot of the old posters you used to see for Chicago around London. Is the stage show still on in the West End?
Unfortunatly Renee Zellweger is just one of my least favourite actresses. I don't know what it is about her but I just can't take to her at all, and this is what spoiled the film for me. Zeta-Jones had a much more minor role than the film posters presented, but when she was on screen she did dazzle. A lot of reviewers have said that about Zellweger, but not for me.
Riding on the wave of musical resurrection (thanks Moulin Rouge!), Chicago did its job well and gave us a fantastic musical. Personal actress preferences lessened the enjoyment of the film for me, but it is an exciting piece of work. Just don't expect the magic that Luhrmann gave us in Moulin Rouge.
The Ring
*SHUDDER*
Do not go and see this film alone. Do not go and see this film if you want to watch tv/videos for a couple of days. Do not go and see this film if you get scared easily.
Oh my god. This has got to be the scariest film I have ever seen. Admittedly I haven't watched many scary movies but after the dreadful and apparant scary My little Eye which was just laughablly bad, I thought I would give this film a go.
Based on the original Japanese film & novel by Koji Suzuki, this excellent American remake staring Naomi Watts (most famous for Mulholland drive) has terrified everyone who has seen it. I am very concious not to spoil the film, so there is little I can really say. I thought both the female & male lead were excellent and they really got the audience to empathise with them. Another personal dislike here though... I hate small children in films. Well no, let me rephrase... I hate small children. And in this case, the little boy is so trying to be Haley Joel Osmond its just annoying.
Otherwise this film is brilliant. It made me jump a hell of a lot, and hide behind my hands quite a few times. Go and see it and be scared yourself!!
Two weeks Notice
I had to go and see this film. had to. Hugh Grant is one of, if not, my favourite actors, probably because he is just so so attractive that grrh I need to have 2 hours of perving sessions every so often.
Two weeks notice is your typical romantic comedy, but unlike most which have very few jokes, this one does have you laughing out loud quite a few times. I can't believe that Grant is 43, and Bullock 39, as they both look so young! There is a lot of chemistry between these two meaning they work really well together and its a delight to watch. Grant portrays the spoilt rich boy perfectly and although he plays the same character again and again, I just can't get enough.
Romantic films are a toughie. I love watching them but I invariably feel depressed at the end!!! Its a shocker! But seriously go and see this if you just want to see something light hearted.. tis a "nice" film.

Yay blogger is finally back!!
Popstars Flopstars? - Louis Walsh has admitted that the Popstars Tour has been cancelled because tickets just weren't selling. Apparantly being associated with One True Voice just wasn't helping!! Damn shame I had free tickets from the beeb (i'll go to anything :P)
Dance Dance Revolution : the greatest game known to man now in finger form!! Rik is in top place but im at no 7. Seeing we both got all of them right i'm
not quite sure how this system is working though!! Check it out.
Catch me if you don't fall asleep first should be the title of the new Spielberg flick. A fantastic cast headed by Hanks & DiCaprio brought a fantastic bit of whimsy to the screen. And although it was well acted throughout the film just went on far too long. Not knowing how long it was to start with, it is just not right to leave a cinema at midnight when you entered at 9pm. I wasted 3 hours of my life!! Much like the opening credits, its about a 1/3rd too long.
Looking forward to Two Weeks Notice thought. Even my non hugh loving friends are raving about how fine he is. :-)
New blogs!! Thanks submeat for linking to Chig and Troubled diva! Both ace.

I think I’m going to
Wow. This blog has had
Rik Waller is reborn: Oh lordy. I watched a bit of American Idol 2 this weekend. In a bizarre twist of fate, a HUUUGE guy called Reuben was actually being praised by Simon Cowell et al and they wanted him to go through to the final 10.
In comparison to Pop Idol it seems a bit pants really. The audience don't seem particulary interested & the general aura of the show reeks of bad production. It also made me (yes MADE me) get a copy of Paula Abdul - Opposites Attract cos I thought it might be quite good to play at Score! (90s pop night I dj at uni) but no... Its quite pants really!
In spicy news : Well they all showed up for this dinner so whoah that is actually a huge move. Mel C's spokeperson has refuted the claim that she will sing with the girls again. But I suppose it depends how the new album does really. I'm being v. negative about this. I used to love the Spice Girls... like love love... went to see them in concert etc.. I just think them back together would ruin the memories of the past somehow /me shrugs. I still would go see/buy them tho!

I realised that since the
So the main new music I currently have:
Stereopol - Dancing Tonight : Love it!! This disco stomper has got all the right qualities to be a big hit when it's released. Not too sure it will be as big as it should though. Male vocals on dancey tracks don't normally go down too well. Fingers crossed though. God knows when that release date is though cos I sure as hell can't find it. It was featured on a MoS compiliation earlier in the year & is getting a lot of radio airplay on emap stations (at least) so it should be coming out soon. [EDIT... AHA March 17th!]
Kira - I'll be your angel : A hell of a lot of places are heralding this as the return to good vocal trance. Sure its an original song and Flip & Fill havent vommed all over it but .. i dunno - it just doesn't really do anything for me. Its no 3 on the Shazam! prerelease chart, yet i'm not too sure how good an indication that really is!! Out today so we shall see what the public thinks on sunday!
Junior Senior - Move your feet : Another disco stomper. Destined to be big
Jennifer Love Hewitt - Can I Go Now? : Yes you most definatly can! Never liked her... never thought she was as gorgeous as everyone seemed to think and oh boy this song is a turkey if ever I heard one!
Lazard - 4 O'Clock In The Morning : Been plugging this one for about a year and a half. Massive in Blackpool for ages and ages, it samples Orca - 4am. Big big female vocal (non cheesy) dance track that I hope finally does well when released.
And finally... I dunno if I dare say this for fear of being lynched
Scooter - Weekend : Yes its scooter. Yes it has a chipmunk vocal. Yes it samples something although I can't for the life of me think of the name of the track but its a fab dance track from about 2 years ago. Yes its v. good. /me hides :)
Just a couple of things
Just a couple of things I came across this weekend:
Counting Crows feat Vanessa Carlton : Hmm. Vanessa Carlton's album was fab. Counting crows .. I can't say i've heard any more than the fantastic Colourblind taken from the stunning Cruel Intentions Soundtrack, but from the brilliance of that song I reckoned they were good. Now here comes Big yellow taxi and I have to answer what the hell is going on. I stayed watching the video cos it had Hugh Grant *yum* clips throughout it, but basically as well as covering a cack song (never liked it sorry if that means I should burn in hell), the featuring of Vanessa is minimal... all the girl does is sing "mmm bop bop bop" a couple of times! Ludicrous & shite. Don't go there music buyers!
Blur - Coffee & TV Video : Yes I'm behind the times on this one by about, ooh, 4 years but how stonking cool is the video. A little milk carton wanders round trying to help people. It rocks supreme!!! Go watch.
X-boxes : got hold of my xbox and spent a hell of a lot of time playing BTVS on it. Absolutely fab!! And if any of you have played the game, I'm just going to say one thing. You want a piece of me? I'll give you the whole damn pie! Chortle chortle.
TaTu : Ok guys. You get off on girls getting together .. but even when they are DOG ROUGH???
Mel C : Last album was stylish. She broke away from the Spice Girl mould and did it well. One fantastic album track that deserves a look up is Closer . However her first single from album numero do is absolutly dreadful. Having said that, its reported the Spicies are going to get back together. No girls!! I was a big fan (yes *cough* it was cool then ok!) but NO!! NOT NOW!! Crash & burn. Your fans have all grown up & frankly your all too old & corrupted now to have the same energy that was in intial spicedom.
Wowwweeeee The very fantastic
Wowwweeeee
The very fantastic Popjustice have linked to me! This is very very cool but it means that I should actually blog more regularly. Its been getting very sporadic recently, mainly because I'm just so knackered. But now I have motivation :D
I toddled off back home this weekend away from the Warwick bubble and oh boy, was it good to be back.
Friday night - went to mum's for birthday meal type thing then bobbed into town to see who was about. Syndicate is very cool on a friday. The night is "Back to the future" and its all old skool .. jinny, jx etc type musique.
Sat night - Town! ... (again). Did a bit of a pubcrawl with Andrea, Rick & Mike. Then met G, Jenny & Mark for an hour or so in Linekers where I saw Damian for a little while.. (hmm) and then heading off to The Syndicate where Sonique was playing. Nat joined up with us then and it resulted in a v. fun night of free aftershocks, although the music was uber hard. Nat & i then stayed up for many hours playing Buffy on the xbox! Quality game!

Ok the reason I’m hearing
Hi Catherine & Talia
Week 7 Top B is themed Kids TV - are up both up for DJing that night - if so
would you be up for get dressed up as Children TV presenters - ie Bright
Colours, hair in crazy style (bunches) and just act a bit wacky on stage? If
you think you have got what it takes let me know. Also if you could get Kids
TV Theme songs that could be good.
Let me know
ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Something I haven’t done for
10 random songs
1. Boyzone - A different Beat : Ahem. Yes I have a boyzone song in my mp3s collection. Oops. But hey I need shit for djing. Yes that's why I have it. This was actually one of my fav B'zone songs from back in the day. I did absolutly despise them tho. And will someone tell Ronan Keating to give it up please!!
2. Sunshine Anderson - Heard it all before : As all RaW people will remember, this track was played on our radio 1 broadcast back in 2001. Not really my type of music but its a decent enuff track.
3. Britney - I love Rock n Roll : Charted late last year at no 13, her lowest ever charting song. Cover of the original by Joan Jett from 82. A top B favourite.
4. Danny Wilson - Mary's Prayer : Used on the soundtrack to There's something about mary and a number 3 from 1988. I like this song :-)
5. Elbow - Independant Women : One of, if not the funniest cover version ever. Elbow take on Destiny's Child complete with glockenspiel Was the b-side off a single sometime last year afaik.
6. Le mans - Mi nouvela auto biagrafica : From the excellent chilloutesque "Beachlife - the Salina Sessions" album. This is a trumpet based track but nothing really special. Hunt out the album though cos it rocks.
7. Jurgen Vries - The theme : I absolutely adore this song!!! In fact Jurgen Vries is just a god full stop. Love it!!! Also as well as an excellent dance track it makes a perfect bed, especially for Campus Countdown :p
8. Coldplay - Clocks : I don' t normally like coldplay... well no that's a lie. I have no real feelings towards them, i've not attempted to get into them. But this track is fab, with a gorgeous sweeping piano based rift.
9. Andy Williams - Can't take my eyes of you : All time enduring classic... recently seems to be the song to sing to when you're drunk. Absolute chooon
10. Thundercats theme tune Where once I would have listened to this laughing at Pat & Lev. I'm now listening in horror. Will explain soon.
Top B last night was
Warwick absolutly love Bus Stop - Kung Fu Fighting.. whats that all about!!!! Oh and Justin - Cry me a river went down a storm.
I've tried and succeeded in dragging Dom away from the standard end of night songs of Let Loose - Crazy for you, and Take That - Never Forget, and played Bon Jovi - Always. It goes down absolutley amazingly, and you can dip practically the entire song & get the entire top b singing it back at you!!!
I'm just trying to think of loads of good end of night songs... Old before I die is a good Score one, as is The Final Countdown.
If you can think of any for my end of the night cd then comment me!!
Right blogging will get back
So the big question today is what do I do this weekend:
a) Go Home
b) Go to Dads
c) Go to London
Answers on a postcard please!
