Lynsey

So I've decided to nick an idea from Dan's site. When I don't have anything interesting to say I'll post a picture of my friends. Now one might (or indeed might not) say that I've written something interesting already today, but still I felt like posting a picture.

This is Lynsey.

Lyns is a sabb at Lufbra SU and is sits on the SRA exec with me. She's fab, sporty, has a penchant for Caramel Ricecakes, goes very Brummy when on the phone to her family, and has a fantastic radio career ahead of her, starting with her new show on Hereward FM tomorrow. Tune in for breakfast if you live in Peterborough!

The Top B Posse

I really really love my job DJing in the Students' Union. Love it. But recently I've discovered there appear to be some discrepancies in what they are paying some members of staff. So I'm not overly happy.

But yes I love it because I get to introduce people to new music and inflict it on them enough so they begin to love it too. Of course there are other factors influencing their 'love' but I give them a little prod each week. And I get to meet some cool and some not so cool people when DJing. Those who ask nicely for tunes, and those who harrass. These are of the latter type.

hehe only kidding. This motely bunch are Hannah, Paul and Neil of the Teacher Paul posse. They are fab and warm up my dancefloor nice and early and write weekly reviews on the banana! Groovy.

Easyworld

To start with I'd like to thank Relly for 'introducing' me to the music of Easyworld about 12 months ago. On Tuesday night I had the pleasure of hearing them do an acoustic session and interview live in RaW as well as a gig later that evening at the Students' Union for which I was inproporitionatily excited.

It was a very good evening, I was accompanied by the ever moistmaking Milly and bumped into a large proportion of the RaW posse there. The band themselves were very good, although I was very gutted by the omission of Bleach & 100 weight from the setlist. We did spend a lot of the gig falling in love with Dav though (or at least Milly & I did) and running round trying to take pictures of the female Flymo!

If you haven't yet come across Easyworld, I'd recommend trying to get hold of album numero uno, the fantastic This Is Where I Stand as opposed to the more depressing new album Kill the Last Romantic but hey get both if you can!

Top Banananananana

Whoohoo. Just finished my first Top B in 3 weeks! Had a couple of weeks of for my birthday and stuff! It was quite hard to get into it at first, but then it RaWked! Poor Rik thought. He knows my self indulgencies and let me do the entire night by myself while he fended off punters! But it was very cool in the end.

4 things

"Ed, you make me moist"
"Simon we love you"
"Barfield your ass is on fire"
"Stu"

I can’t…

sleep, concentrate, sit still, be interested etc etc....

A trip to the doctors today me thinks :-(

A Fallen Angel

Just to say check out a friend of mine's photo art work on Deviant art as some of it is gorgeous.

Me as a South Park Figure

Well its the best resemblance I could make.

Via Matt's site!

Madness

I got dragged off tonight by the aforementioned mad Milly to a heat of Warwick's Bandsocs Battle of the Bands.

Performing tonight were The Sequins, Buffalo Soldiers, Flux Capacitor, JMC Automatic (aka Chris Carter) & some death metal act! We were there to support Flux Capacitor and they were pretty cool - very funky. Also very good was the vocalist from Buffalo Soldiers, he sounded like Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20. There are some photos here and a couple of interesting sound clips here and here

Another music style event from Warwick, the symphony orchestra accompanied by Ed, have been in India all week getting up to this. Bonkers!

Art of the Mix

I was first introduced to Art of the mix by Relly about a year ago, but didn't really do much with it. Then I noticed Mr Shipp was also occasionally using it.

So I've decided to put the listing up for RaW's FM February test transmission up. For those non RaW peeps among you, this was a test transmission for the radio station I was working on. It played out on a loop overnight before the station went live at 12pm. It is normally a big mix of chillout but I liked to spice it up with a few suitable tracks. Ready or Not is often a forgotten about, but fantastic mellow track, and the Lynden David Hall version of 'All you need is love' from the Love Actually soundtrack is fab.

So here's the listing

If you actually want to hear it then follow the badgers or if in fact you have no idea what i'm talking about and you know me drop me an email/comment :-)

Grrh Argh

I meant to post about this yesterday but had too many stresses to sort it out.

The Wb have cancelled Angel.

I mean ARGH. Not only did we lose Buffy last season, but we got Spike on Angel and the world was happy with continued Spikeness.

Last week we had the most beautiful episode - number 100 - You're Welcome which I won't go into because it hasn't yet aired in the UK and I will no doubt piss a lot of people off. But I finally got to see what I've wanted for a couple of seasons now in the Angelverse.

Strike a pose

Gallery is finally doing things for me again! Thanks Dave!

I stand in the distance, I view from afar

To celebrate singledom on Valentines Day, I cleverly agreed to DJ the University of Warwick's Law Ball. I look forward with extreme anticipation and joy at playing copious love songs to happy couples.

Continuing in the current Ents Department's very clever way of allocating DJs, I appear to be working from 10 till 4am, firstly doing an indie set and then a Top B set.

So dear readers, if any of you happen to check this site before about 7pm then please leave a comment and let me know of any suitable songs for dancing in either then romance or the indie genre!

Happy valentines day!

Today’s Friday Five -

Today's Friday Five - This weeks is pretty pooey

1. Are you superstitious?
No
2. What extremes have you heard of someone going to in the name of superstition?
I think my grandad wouldn't buy a house even if he liked it if the number added up to an unlucky number.
3. Believer or not, what's your favorite superstition?
I can't even think of any. Erm. Lets go for something cheery. If you find a penny and pick it up you will have good luck!
4. Do you believe in luck? If yes, do you have a lucky number/article of clothing/ritual?
No! I'm not silly!
5. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not?
No. Never really thought about it that much!!

Well that was a pile of rubbish wasn't it! :)

Yesterday

Yesterday was Mel's birthday. A celebration which will be continued onwards tonight at Soul Nation (whoo!). The girls spent a lot of time drinking from 2pm in Cholo before we took a trip to Bows (after a ridiculously short council meeting too!).

Bows is always cool, mainly cos its just chilled out and you can fart about without worrying what anyone thinks of you. I love downstairs but upstairs always is far far too hot. Anyway last night I think I proceeded to scare people by telling them exactly who they were and various things about their lives (gleaned from their blogs or wabson photos) even though they didn't know me.

But hey, I met some really nice people who I had always seen about but never formally been introduced to. I also dragged Jessica along to thrill her with the delight of her first trip to a gay club. Can you believe that girl has lived in Blackpool all her life and never been to Flamingos! Its a travesty!

Yesterday also saw the very very expensive and exciting purchase of a new digital camera - the stunning Casio Exlim Z4. I proceeded to spend the rest of the day pissing everyone off, by taking photographs of them constantly, and I dare say this might continue for quite a while yet! :) Photos will be up when gallery starts working again !

My friends

Hello world

Well here we go again... but finally in MT format.

It's a bit bland at the moment but will become much better. It will also be updated reguarly and have some context that might actually be interesting to people!

Watch this space...
