Suantum of Quolace

The new Bond theme is pretty meh-some. There's some nice piano but I can barely otherwise hear Alicia Keys on it. Anyway, forget all about that and check out Joe Cornish's (of Adam & Joe) amazing home made theme tune.

Three great things I heard in the last 24 hours…

radio.gif

1. Matthew Bannister in for Jeremy Vine on R2 talking about Chav's.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00chp52 (from 1.41 - end)

2. Everything on Oldham's 96.2 The Revolution
http://www.revolutiononline.co.uk/
Super local, alternative, passionate, knowledgable. I've never hear an alternative, local independent station before; the lineup is like a who's who of Manchester talent. It's brill!

3. Kiss
Driving out of London up the M1 while amazing classics played on Kisstory, desperately trying not to loose the signal (up to about as far as Newport Pagnell I think!!!) Best bit - the baleric mix of Chic 'I Want Your Love'!

Up 4 at 35

It's no secret that I'm quite a big chart geek. Like everyone else I used to tape the chart off the radio every so often trying really hard to capture the songs and cut it off before Mark Goodier started talking, but I've also had a rare pleasure of working on the Official Chart Show (with Wes as presenter) for 6 months back in 2004. This is when the real chart geekiness started and now I seem to pride myself on being the personfication of everyhit.co.uk whenever possible.

So, with the chart rule changes that came into force on 1 Jan, yesterday was the very first day of the new style chart. This is incredibly exciting, anything could happen and a re-entry for Snow Patrol in the top 10 means it all starts kicking off. Of course, I'm too late to write anything intelligent about it, the awesome Mr Discopop has already done it.

Sleepy Girl

Bbq
I'm double shifting on Spoony and Vernon this weekend and with 80 minutes to go, I'm tired, tired, tired. My future tiredness wasn't helped by being ill on Friday too after some dodgy food on the Camden Crawl.

It's always like this when I'm on breakfast. Work starts at 6, so I roll out of bed at 530 just in time for my 540 cab. Today though with 2 days of double shifts the tiredness has well and truly hit and I feel rough as a dog. Normally I'm home by 11 and go to sleep for a couple of hours. Yesterday I was in at 2 and slept til 6 which wasn't too bad, before we trialed our brand new BBQ and watched trashy TV as well as my recording of the brand new Popworld.

Now, even though we're playing the ace K-Klass - Rhythm is A Mystery I cannot wait for my bed!

The Blue Room

You know, The Blue Room on Radio 1 is often mocked, and it's on at a crazy time meaning I only hear it if i'm working earlies.  But maybe I should make more of an effort.  They just played Out Hud - For You followed by Portishead - Glory Box.

Art of the Mix

I was first introduced to Art of the mix by Relly about a year ago, but didn't really do much with it. Then I noticed Mr Shipp was also occasionally using it.

So I've decided to put the listing up for RaW's FM February test transmission up. For those non RaW peeps among you, this was a test transmission for the radio station I was working on. It played out on a loop overnight before the station went live at 12pm. It is normally a big mix of chillout but I liked to spice it up with a few suitable tracks. Ready or Not is often a forgotten about, but fantastic mellow track, and the Lynden David Hall version of 'All you need is love' from the Love Actually soundtrack is fab.

So here's the listing

If you actually want to hear it then follow the badgers or if in fact you have no idea what i'm talking about and you know me drop me an email/comment :-)
